Are Epson 252 and 702 interchangeable?

My Epson 3620 experienced fatal Error 0X97. It was under warranty but only 3720 model was available. 3620 used 252 cartridges. 3720 uses 702. They seem identical in size and shape. Can I use the 252 in the new 3720 printer or no?

No they’re not. I have. WF 3720 and accidentally bought a black 252, thinking that’s what I needed. Only to discover: they fit but the printer doesn't recognize them. It was genuine epson cartridge too.
