Automatic Document Feeder Jams

I have a WF-3620 MFD. Until fairly recently the automatic document feeder was working perfectly. Now when I put some documents in the feeder the first item is taken through OK, but the next item starts to feed through before the previous one has finished scanning. The feeder takes the second document through too far and then reports a jam.

I assume that the feeder has to take the next document a certain distance into position, ready to be scanned, but I'm guessing that a sensor which tells it when to stop feeding the document through has stopped operating.

I'd appreciate any help or advice anyone can give.
