Bother HL-L2395DW Printer Produces Gibberish Scanned Pages

I bought this 3-in-1 printer about a year ago and I loved it. However, recently, it produces gibberish scanned pages. There are no words in the scanned PDF file, but only stripes. This never happened before. Here are the configurations in my printer/scanner settings: Kind: Black & White. Resolution: 200 dpi. Not use custom size. Size: A4. Orientation: portrait upright. Scanned to a local directory. namme: melody. Format: PDF. Do not combine into a single document. Image Correction: None.

However, when I choose the output format to be "JPG", it produces a normal page. What is going on there?
