As the title say I have a Brother Hl 4140-CN laser printer and every page I print has 3 black dots down the right hand side of the page, about 1.25" from the edge of the page and about 3.75" apart.
Problem solved, the answer was on the Brother website, guess I should have looked a bit harder before posting.
It was a little bit of black toner stuck on tthe drum roller.
