hello i have the brother mfc-j470dw
a while ago, it was turning on and off about every 5 minuts.
the last thing that helped was, hard resetting it, in the maintains menu.

but now i still have the idea its turning on to much.
now it turns on, stays on the normal time and goes off.
you hear some cartridge or setup of the heads, i dont know how to explain.
but it looks like the head cleaning. but i think its sorter.

This last thing happens i think each 4 hours.

i also tough because i do not use the printer at the moment , i print some colourfull a4 photos.
so if needed, al has run for a good while. but still its doing the same.

is this normal? and is it possible because of the hard reset, i have to set some new things in the printer that that has been removed , or in the maintains menu.

thank you,

ps : it was not clear for me, but i see this question needs to be in printer repair i think. sorry

so i mean reset the wifi of the printer en reconnect?
because if disconnect the wifi , i cannot print any more

thank you.

for now i first have disabled the brother startup background software, because that i never used,

lets first see if that fixes the problem.

thanks i was also thinking about the ip. because i stupid me, the last time i put it in static. that could be an issue indeed. i am going to check the links. and set the ip.
i will let you know.

Or i will reserve the ipadress. And i dont care how i will set it. if just the printer will get more sleep hihi

i dont want to be hopefull right now, but what the hell.
like the links said the first and only thing i tough was good to do is.

Disable APIPA something about the printer is requesting an ip or something like that.

still 12 hours further it did not go on yet. afcourse i was not there all the time. but when you have a problem you know the differents. Only thing would be possible that i would sometime be on a same ipaddress but that is simple to be fixed in the router afcourse. so i am goning to see what this does in the couple of days. and let it know.
Yes i also tested printing and that is also stil working.

for now i can confirm that disable APIPA in the printer itself did the trick.
for now, i did not get a duplicate ipaddress, what can be possible now.
but if that does i can fix that in my router.

so far this problem is fixed, thanks.
