We have two of these printers that we've used for lots of labels as just a handheld. The first one started malfunctioning over a year ago where it wouldn't save the last label you printed or remember the style settings you last used. Probably other things as well, but these were the ones I used the most. As it then happened to our second one two weeks ago, I got irritated and disassembled it. Total of 6 screws in the top case, two on the bottom holding on the rubber base and then two more screws holding down the main board at the top. Upon inspection, there was no battery of the sort that would provide power to any memory or storage, but there was one large capacitor...
So, on a hunch, I ordered (2) of these 16V 4700uF 16mm x 25mm with 10000hr life capacitors from Mouser:
I replaced each one in each printer and so far, they are working amazing!!
Just wanted to pass on the knowledge, in case anyone else has the same issue.
