Canon iP7250

I have a new canon ip77250. When I try to print it sounds as though the printer is warming up but nothing happens. I've input the driver quite a few times but that makes no difference. The only time I've printed is when (I suppose its Canon tech) interrupts the process with a screen which looks as though it is finishing off the driver's job. Then it prints. But this does not happen every time.
Any ideas?
