the print will come out a little blurry on one line but look great a couple of lines fur down the page. I've preformed all the maintenance task multiple times. cleaning, deep cleaning, aligning, and nozzle checks. made sure all the tanks are good and run many test pages, but even though it helped a little, the print is much the same, blurry but readable.
I have started using the high quality print option, and it helps, but it is just not as good as it should be.
Here is were I could really use your know-how and expertise. Is the problem the print head? does it need to be replaced? Is there something else I could do to repair it? Or is getting a new machine the answer at this point?
If anyone has experience that will help, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the print head might be worn out, especially if cleaning and aligning haven’t fixed the issue. You can try manually cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol but if that doesn’t help, replacing the print head or upgrading to a new printer might be the best option. Good luck!

well the print head was removed and cleaned, both with alcohol and water. used air to dry it out.. ran the maintenance again, but the results were about the same afterwards.
I love the ink cartridges system I have, have filled them many many times and they work perfectly. I don't look forward to giving it up.
So Ive looked for some alternatives. I found this list, but I really am not very savvy with printers. I mostly just print documents and documents with pictures embedded. Most of the work is black and white or gray scale, but it's nice to print in color when we need it. if any of you have knowledge and could offer suggestions, we're very willing to hear.
hear is the list that I found. Are they still available? Is there something that would suit us better? I've had two canon printers and liked them both.

Precision colors based out of Canada and Cone Color based out of Vermont are really the only two options for third party that retain the quality of Canon

Problem fixed!! yepee.
We purchased an aftermarket print head on amazon. It looks just like the cannon print head. After installing it and filling up the ink cartridges, it started right up but only 1/4 of the page printed. We ran the different maintenance tools and gradually it started to print good. After making the electronic adjustments, it prints like the machine did when it was new.
The cannon print head is not available any longer. Cleaning various times, adjusting electronically and any other thing we did, wouldn't restore it. But this new print head, less than $35, fixed the problem, saved the fill able cartridges from elimination, and we didn't have the expense of a new printer scanner, copier, fax!
How can you beat that?
