Canon MP610 printer...Scans work but prints don't?

My canon Mp610 has always worked fine, however it ran out of black ink so I changed it. Problem now is that though scans work perfectly, any prints I try to do come out extremely faded, with only the first few lines coming out (and in the vaguest way possible)

Does anyone know what the problem might be?
