Canon MP640 Printing problem

My Canon MP 640 has decided not to print from the main black cartridge (PGBK). Cleaning the print head brought a slight improvement but when I did a deep clean it reverted to refusing to print black. It also now won't print magenta. All the cartridges have plenty of ink - though the number of times I've gone through the cleaning routine means I've used a hell of a lot.

Any solutions? Or is it buy a new printer/scanner?
