Canon pixma ix6550 help needed

Hi, I have recently purchased a Canon Pixma ix6550 and am having real trouble getting the print settings right. I did have a epson R245 and the printed images were spot on to the screen colour wise. With the Pixma they are very very dark, I've tried a few settings but to no avail. I am printing using Adobe Photoshop 4 with genuine Canon ink and paper. any ideas would be much appreciated

just to add i've tried no colour management, photoshop manages colour and printer manages colour and to be honest there aint much difference between the 3
