DCP-9055CDN waste container and more ????

I just got this printer second hand but it shows it misses the WASTE CONTAINER when I try to install it.

I too can see that all 4 containers for the colors are missing !

it instructs me to install the waste container when I turn it on BUT ...

I don't want to buy waste container and color casettes just to reallize when they are installed that something else is missing or "run out of life" !

Now I have two questions:

1) Can I in some way see the "Time left" on the different components ?
2) Can I run the printer with >>> ONLY <<< the Black color container installed ?

I have found a way to see the remaining "time" for different components so ...

Can I get the printer going with ONLY a black cartridge and leave the other sockets empty = not just an empty cartridge but NO cartridge at all ?
