DCP-L2540DW stopped scanning

Hi, my wife's printer (on win 22H2) prints fine but suddenly stopped scanning. When she clicks on the utility scan button It produces an error message that it failed to start the application. When she clicks on the scan button in the Control Center 4 she gets an error message that the destination folder can't be set. Can someone help here?
