Dull print results epson sure color p600

I am experiencing dull prints with this printer. I have recently replaced an r3000 - and the prints from this machine are notably brighter - particularly the magenta/yellow spectrum. I have downloaded ICC profiles and experimented with the advanced colour settings - but whilst I can boost brightness - I am also losing lighter/highlight detail in the image. ICC profile for my paper stock is producing wildly bright saturated results.
Can anyone offer any advice?
