Just received an Epson 1400 that I bought on eBay that was listed as "New" because it was only used once.
The seller has a 100% positive feedback on 101 buyer responses. So I figured it would be okay.
Without plugging into the computer, I just want it to power on and allow me to put in new cartridges because it came without them.
When I press the power button, it does its little noise thing with the carriage moving here to there, then it goes back home and turns off.
That's it. Just turns off.
Now I'm looking into the manual and it says I should be able to do a printer test without the unit connected to the computer.
But it does not stay on after doing the initial startup routine.
Any ideas? Is this thing defective?
