Epson R1900 putting blue into a black and white photo

I've been navigating the Epson printer utility and the settings in all of my photo programs, iPhoto, Photos, Aperture, Pixelmator. The original black and white photo was scanned to my HD using an Epson 10000XL at high resolution. I had previously been able to print a B&W as just plain old black and white but now, where in the heck is the blue coming from. All new Epson ink cartridges, nozzles cleaned and print check is fine. Even after selecting "gray scale" in setup I'm still getting blues. What settings changed? What am I missing?
