Epson SX425W - Can't access printer LED setup - unavailable

I live in South America and since the SX425W is a European printer I can't get new cartridges, so I'm using the printer as a scanner only, over USB with no cartridges installed.
Unfortunately, the LED display gives me 'unavailable' when I try to get into setup for a WiFi connection. Is there any way around this?
