Epson WF-3520 starts, freezes, shuts down, beeps

When I turn the WF-3520 on it goes through the usual startup sequence including connecting to the wifi network. After several seconds the device "freezes" where no controls respond. It then shuts down followed a few seconds later by a long beep. Again several seconds later, with no action from me, it starts the cycle all over. Only way to stop it is to turn the printer off before the controls freeze. There is no error code displayed. I tried the unplug and re-plug but that did nothing.
