Epson XP-25 - message says it can't print because it is offline..

Epson Home expression XP-205 printer will not realise it is connevted to my PC. I have checked all leads. I know it needed new inks, but now I cannot get beyond the flashing red lights on the right, flashing red and green lights on the left and the error message that tells me it is offline. Help please!
