If I don't print anything for a FEW minutes, I cannot print without power cycling this "thing".

I do have deep sleep disabled and an article I read said to set the sleep mode to 0, which I have. However, that doesn't help.

I've read a ton of reviews on Amazon, and there are always around 10% of the reviews that say the same thing, about every printer I've tried.

If there's no fix, does anyone know of a printer that actually works?

I have a 2690 that works, but I can't afford that!

It sounds frustrating! Since you’ve already disabled deep sleep and set the sleep time to 0, try checking for any firmware updates or resetting the printer to factory settings. If the issue continues, you might want to look into printers like the Brother HL-L2350DW or HL-L2370DW, which are affordable and generally have fewer issues with sleep modes. Hopefully, that helps!

Called Brother support. I was given the option to receive a call-back, and the wait time would be 35 minutes. Not unusual... What was unusual, is that 90 minutes later I called back, because I never got a call from them. Wait time 2 hours and 12 minutes. An hour later I got a call, which I'm sure was from the 1st attempt.

Man asked what the problem was, said hang on, that's tier 2 support, and was told the wait time would be an hour and 40 minutes.

Hour later, I got a call. Even though I "thought" I disabled wifi, I had not. He helped me disable it, and it's worked via Ethernet, since. Man said, Ethernet will always be more stable than wifi. I'm like, Dud, wifi came out in 1996! 38 years ago! Does it have a problem with range? Of course.

Why the hell, should I have to run a cable, 25 feet, over rafters in a garage. I'm old! And decrepit. Why should I need a flashlight to see an LCD panel? Must cost more than 10 cents to backlight it.

Brother is located in Tennessee. What, do they hire grade school drop-outs to write the documentation?

I'd send it back, on principle, but it's too damn heavy!

Oh, and as far as I could find, there are no updates to the firmware. Doesn't mean they're not available, just didn't find any.

Found it. Release 10-31-2024. Didn't help. Note: I removed the printer sometime yesterday, and reinstalled it. Today, I noticed There were two printers, one labeled "Copy 1". The original printer was greyed out, but the copy is working fine. Did I mention, I'm too old for this?
