When a program like MS Word or Excel sends the info to a color laser printer that some text (or parts of a graphic) are black and others are color will the laser automatically and always use only black ink from the black cartridge for the black text?
I recently bought a Brother HL-3040cn. Great printer, very low price. But under print settings you can choose "auto," "color" or "mono." I'm assuming that if you choose "auto" and have just a few characters on a page that are not black that almost no colored ink will be used. But it seems to me that should be true for the "color" setting as well. Anyone know?
