HP Envy 7640 "Out of Paper"

Have tried for days all the while turning printer (and Laptop) off and on; unplugging for 30 seconds. ERROR message says out of paper in PHOTO tray, yet never use the photo tray and MAIN tray is full. This is recent problem, I have not had before and believe it may be tied into a WINDOWS update, but do not know how to fix.
