HP L7680 inkjet out of black ink notice.

I've been getting this notice lately and then the printer refuses to print until I replace the cartridge. Well, I checked the cartridge, shaked it a bit and I can hear plenty of ink inside. I put it back and it will print another page or two before it gives me that notice again. It's a genuine HP cartridge. Is this supposed to happen even when there is plenty of ink left? Seems like HP wants people to spend more on supplies.

Yes it's normal, HP has an embedded chip. Keep printing until you notice, that it's not printing anymore.
