I'm still using an old HP LaserJet 4L that has been very good to me. It recently ran out of toner. So I bought a refilled cartridge. The refilled cartridge was giving light prints on parts of the page. I thought maybe the sealing ribbon that the refiller installed didn't completely come out when I pulled it out. So I got a second refilled cartridge. The result was the same. I got a third refilled cartridge, this time from a different refilling company. I am still getting light prints. It looks like the light portion is isolated to the top ~1.5" of the page.
Since then I have cleaned all of the mirrors and lenses, but this changed nothing.
I thought maybe the printer is not warming up properly anymore and maybe gets warmed up only part way through the print. I'm not sure if this makes sense.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
