I have a HL-L2390DW brother and question about firmware update

Hey,

I have a HL-L2390DW brother laser on the second last firmware which is ZD the new firmware came out after called ZE. I have toner that is generic that has a new chip in it. I am wondering if anyone knows if the firmware update will lock out generic toner as it sees it as generic.
