I have an IBM 6400 which worked fine until I rolled it from the den to the dining room. A few days later I turned it on and it sound a steady tone, the status display says power on test and thats all, it can sit for 30 minutes and nothing changes. Anybody who has one of these could answer the question, when the power switch is flipped to the on position should the cooling fan start right away. This fan does not start at all. Knowing IBM's tendency to overcheck the plumbing could a bad fan be the cause of initialization never completing? I will take all suggestions, I can call a local business printer repair but this is for personal use with my mainframe emulator and I know they will charge a fortune just to come out and look at it.
