Installation Pixma IP8750

I have recently purchased a Canon Pixma IP8750. I have tried using the installation DVD that came with it but it get's so far then locks on the Set Up Guide pop up window that is empty. If I close this window it loops back to the set up screen again. I have downloaded the drivers and software installation from the Canon website (file:- win-ip8700-1_1-mcd.exe) but the exact same thing happens. When I am trying to install this AVG is temporarily disabled (Canon Support told me this was the problem) but no difference. My OS is WIndows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium. I would be grateful of any assistance.

I have got the printer working by using the WIndows add a printer route but there is some software I would like to install as well.
