iPrint&Scan does not use "auto" document size to effect

I use iP&S version 12.0.2 (2071) on a Mac and generally am very happy with it. However, when I specify "auto" document size in Scan Setting it scans onto A4 size regardless.

Is there a fix or workaround for this? I scan many documents smaller in size than A4 and really just want to capture the actual document image, without a white space to make up the A4 size.

Any feedback would be very welcome.

p.s. A competitor's product does indeed scan only the actual document size when selecting auto.
