My tried-n-true Laserjet 5 has been sitting idle for a couple years now. I used to send 25- 150 pages a month through it, but these days I don't do much volume anymore, so the inkjet serves my needs most of the time. So, it's been switched off for about two years. Lifetime page count is 99,000.
I turned it on today and sent a short document to it. In addition to the actual document, it's printing a very light gray over the entire printable area. They are vague horizontal bars, about 2" tall across the page sort of lighter and darker gray alternating down the page, but all very light.
What's the best course? Is there something that would have aged while it was switched off?
EDIT: Note that my title is now inaccurate... after sending five or so pages through, the light gray on both sides changed to just the front side.
