Please let me know: is it safe to laserprint on laminated paper? I very much appreciate to have your opinion/experience. Thanks a lot.
As far as I know: in a laserprinter the medium passes a hot fuser-roll. The fuser temperature is circa 190 Celsius, the contact-time is circa 0.3 seconds. That is the information I found on this. The medium must be quite heat-stable in order to survive the contact. Is the laminate plastic sufficiently heat-stable to survive the print job?
My guess: if laminate is polyester plastic (PET) it will work well. E.g. there is commercial “self adhesive clear polyester film” on the market, sold for use in laserprinters. (The film is used for making decorative decals/stickers.) However if the laminate plastic is PVC plastic, the laminate will melt on the fuser and the encounter may ruin the printer. Any experience or expert opinion on the matter? Thank you in advance.
Stip.
