lexmark x3350 driver problems?

Hi, trying to install an x3350 on my pc. i downloaded the latest windows xp 32 bit driver from the lexmark site. my problem is i can print an ascii text file from notepad fine, but if i try to print the test page or a ms word document it doesn't print correctly. any ideas?
