looking for professional photo printer

i need a printer that delivers color quality close to whats on screen with the ability to show small details, ie microprint and shades. what are your opinions?
in addition i don't print large format prints, mostly 4x6 occasionally 8.5 x 11

personally i think that canon do the best photo printers as i have one myself and the print quality is really good.
