MFC-7440N scanner driver will not install

I have 3 machines printing to the networked printer. Has worked great for many years. The scan function on one of the machines stopped working. Diags says scanner driver installation incomplete (see pdf attachment)

The machine(s) in question ... W10 PRO, W10 Home, and the problem machine W10 PRO.

Here is the driver pkg installed and obtained from Brother

Problem machine prints even though no printer lists in Device Manager. Other 2 machines do. Print queues yes, printer no.

Happily done sfc /scannow. Reinstalled driver pkg several times. Out of ideas. Any help/advice appreciatd in advance.
