Hi
My Canon MG5550 has had ghosting issues for a while now (double letters).
I tried cleaning the encoder strip, which was totally greasy for some reason, which helped a bit, but didn't get rid of the problem. My suspicion is that there is some dirt on the actual encoder sensor/light barrier at the encoder.
The interesting part is: The Ghosting only happens when I select Plain Paper in the settings. If I select some kind of Photo Paper, the issue dissapears. I would be fine with this Workaround, but I canĀ“t use Duplex printing anymore.
So: Does anyone know how to remove the whole carriage, not just the printhead, from this printer?
A workaround on how to use the Duplex function when printing on Photo Paper (or at least claiming to) would be very helpful too. And as i have absolutely no idea on why it works on the photo paper setting, maybe someone knows what the printer does different.
Regards,
pycta
