MP 5055 All Scanned Docs Saved?

We recently purchased the MP 5055 multifunction printer, scanner, copier. I am trying to determine if all scans are stored on the unit. I know that there are options to scan to the HD or have the scans that are emailed also be saved, but if you are not using either of these features would a scanned (or copied, printed) document still be saved somewhere on the unit? I understand its at least in some temp file or memory to do the function, but could it be found on the hard drive later?
