My Canon Selphy CP720 is giving the error "ink cassette is empty and must be replaced"

Hi
I have tried for two days now to get my Canon Selphy CP720 to work. Canon Support can not help me, neither in Sweden nor USA.
I am getting the error "ink cassette is empty and must be replaced", both from the computer and from a memory card. Anyone with a similar problem, that can give me a hint of what I can do? Or do I have to throw away this printer now?!

I have a Selphy CP900. On the right hand side there is a cover where you slide out and slide in the new printer cassette. Each cassette is a dye sublimation set for printing a fixed number of prints. Every 36 prints you need a new cassette.
