No preview on WF-2540 scanner

Suddenly when I use the Epson Scan feature on my WF-2540 I get nothing. If I select Scan it works and then I can look at what I got and no problem so clearly I have good communication between device and computer. I have reloaded the software from the CD that came with it and no joy. Has anyone seen this? Is there a fix?
