I have an OKI C844 printer. Randomly, when warm and trying to print, there is a knocking sound from the rear of the printer followed by a message saying, 'Check fuser unit'. Sometimes opening and closing the front panel will clear the problem and allow printing. Other times, turning it off for a while will clear it. Once printing has started, that print run will finish. I assume this issue may be heat related.
Due to the cost, I'm reluctant to replace the fuser unit without being a little more certain of the cause. The fuser unit shows 68% remaining.
I'm wondering whether this rings bells with anyone.
