Paper Jam in Epson WF-C5710/WF-C5790 printer

My Epson WF-C5710/WF-C5790 printer has a visible piece of copy paper stuck in the roller visible from the rear door (D); but I cannot get it out by pulling it straight back as shown in the instructions. It is clamped down on by something internal. How do I loosen it so that I can pull the paper out without it shredding? Thanks.

Thanks for the advice; it sounds like a good option. However I had previously cleared the jam by loosening the three tiny Phillips-head screws in the back panel and that loosened the jammed paper enough to pull out.
