PLEASE help: where is protective cap on new cartridge

I bought Double D Color Ink cartridges for my All-in-one Brother printer: MFC-J497DW. The box says REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE CAP. What does the cap look like? How does one remove it? What should I do with the clear tape covering the white tip? Thank you for helping me. - Steve
