Print envelopes on HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401 dn

The printer user guide says to place envelopes in the Tray 2 drawer, with guided adjusted for the envelope. However the printer does not pickup the envelope but displays an error to place the envelope in Tray 1. Further, when I click the cancel button on the printer display the printer then continues to print all the envelopes in the tray, even though the number of copies is 1 in the print dialog. When print from Tray 1 the envelope comes out wrinkled so I prefer not to use it. Is this fixable?
