printer for artist/graphic designer

hi all i dont have a clue of which printer to buy. i have been designing hand drawn maps for company outings etc. i work in pencil and have always sent away for my prints. how ever i now want to introduce colour in my work using photoshop and print my own finished work. they need to be good quality prints, speed not too important, any ideas of what printer might suit my requirements or at least point me in right direction.

Any hi-end printer have good quality printing, so the expensive they get, the better they get.
Cheap are good but good things are not cheap.
