Printer prints black dots all over page whenever there is blank space (Brother MFC-J680DW)

So when I bought the printer (Brother MFC-J680DW) the prints were perfectly fine (quality-wise), but really slow. I haven't really understood why until I noticed this http://i.imgur.com/sEsC3de.jpg if you look closely you can see hundreds of black dots! This is printing from a completely blank page from notepad. I looked at all the documents I've done and they all have this issue! The printer is connected wirelessly. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am completely stumped and my GoogleFu has proved futile. Thanks.
