Problem when printing with Epsom StylusPro 3800

My printer is loosing the density of some of the black areas of the images - as the attached sample. What is odd in this example is that whilst the problems at its worst in the black teeshirt of the figure on the left, the person next to him is ok but the problem is apparent in the next man's tee shirt. I'm printing either CYMK or RGB files from the Epson Print Layout programme via a Mac. Can anyone offer any help? Thanks
