I have a recently filled HP-61 cart, that will not be used for a length of time. How can I store this cart without it drying out ? I have placed it in a ziplock bag with a dampened paper towel. Is there a better proven way ?

Ink always dry's up if in contact with AIR, so ziplock is not enough, You do need to seal the printhead. there are so called clips ,transporter clips. Those would help
It probably would be better to purchase a cartridge which would be cheaper than the long run. When you get you're cartridge it will come with a case so you can store it. Also keep it away from windows and heaters which dry up the ink. Same goes with your printer.
