Suggestions requested on replacing my old worn out Epson Artisan 837

I have had my Artisan 837 for years, and it is finally giving out. I am planning to get a new All-in-one printer, but I need your help on which type to get. I do not print a lot of things as I used to, and I find my Artisan inks would report as empty even though I felt I did not use them enough to be empty and feel they are drying out. Which printer type would do this less, if any. An ink tank type of printer, or should I stay with the replaceable cartridge type?
If it helps, when I do print, I print more documents than images.
