Unable to scan on Windows 10 suddenly

I used to be able to scan using the Brother's flatbed scanner wirelessly just by setting up the printer through Windows settings, but suddenly it isn't recognizing it:

I know I've done the feeder once using Brother's software, but it's so bloated and intrusive and weird that I'm afraid to use it again.

Any idea how to get it to work just using Windows Settings printer & scanner again? Or are there some simple drivers or whatever I can install that doesn't require the ControlCenter bloat?
