WF-3640 Going to fax when making call

I have our telephone running through our WF-3640 printer/fax

It has been working fine for some time but recently it has started trying to send a fax when I make a telephone call.
To complete the call I need to switch off the machine and redail. This does not happen on all calls just some on landline and mobile calls. Does anyone have any thoughts?
