I had a readyprint subscription, cancelled it and then restarted a new one - but it never worked. I even received the new inks, they are all set up in the printer, but still it gives me the same error code. So I messaged the support - they of course, did not answer for weeks. Called the service - she was pissed, hated her job and hung up after not understand my problem. So EPSON is so unprofessional and disgusting, that I have to throw away that damn printer, and will never get back to them.

I had the same problem as Epson cancelled my XP3205 printer remotely when I cancelled my ReadyPrint subscription which worked out more expensive than buying replacement generic inks, luckily the new 604XL non OEM inks from Ebay work beautifully Thought I should spread the words than being ripped off by Epson ReadyPrints.

Same problem. Finally cancelled ReadyPrint because I ran out of ink. Their service just didn't work reliably. The way it should work is they ship you new ink just before you run out..? (not rocket science is it). #Fail.

Anyway I bought my own ink as I know the subscription ink won't work anymore but the printer is complaining of a "ReadyPrint account problem" on the screen, and refuses to print.

Epson's web site support chat does not work. So I am stuck. Any advice?

Given I have *no* idea how to fix your printers, I do have a method to keep this *&^%*&^%
from happening to you, or others, in the future. These printers obviously use WiFi,
the WiFi signals all come from/through your router, and the printer's ID (MAC address?)
has long ago been sent to OEM. OEM can thus communicate -individually- with your printer.

Most routers have a built-in Firewall, which can block various "websites", including those
OEM uses to communicate with your personal printers (and presumably, shut them down).

Here's the generalized method to activate router firewalls, and use them, to block printer's
communication with OEM: LINK TO Lifewire Page. NOTE: Router firewall is different from
the firewall you have using Windows' OS, or Apple's OS.

What sites need to be blocked is way beyond my knowledge, but I suspect someone
here has a friend who works in IT.
.Good Luck !

EDIT: I wonder if blocking the OEM sites on the internet will allow the printers to recognize
new non-OEM+ (??) cartridges and/or aftermarket cartridges?? Might be worth a try.

.
BTW... Blocking Epson via firewall should not interfere with you controlling your printer.
I hate to say it but because of the scenario of having a bricked printer after each blocking attempt, this is above everyone at this forums paygrade. Hell even blocking Windows 10/11 from contacting home base is more advanced than most users want to commit. They certainly wouldn't risk a bricked printer to find all the ports and addresses Epson/HP software and/or hardware can report home to.

Everyone is better off ditching the subscription before using it.

Well, I discovered this isue with how much they charge for printing outisde of the subscribed number myself recently. I had no idea I was not actually paying for an ink subscription but was paying for the number of pages until I noticed a higher than usual charge last month. The ad for the service clearly states 'Ink Subscription' and I have highlighted this to them and have been in a back and forth running battle with them over it but am getting nowhere fast.

Last month was the first time I went above the 50 pages limit and at 10p per page it is way too high especially when it matters not how much ink is laid on the page which I thought was a particular con of itself. The paper I buy myself so why am I paying for a page with less printing on it than another.

I have had a single black cartridge in the 10 months I have had the printer and have so far been charged over £40 for the priviledge. Last month I was 83 pages over with 22 carried forward and this month I know I am already around 100 over so it is going to get very expensive. I temporarily upped my subscription to a higher level try to cover some of this but even doing that in the middle of the month comes at an extra cost that they fail to outline anywhere in their information. I have asked for a clear breakdown of these charges but I doubt they will give that as their responses are so generic.

My main concern now is reading all these stories of printers being blocked once the subscription is cancelled. I cannot afford to be without a printer so this is a real concern!! How are they able to do that when we have purchased these printers outright.

I am so angry right now!!

Further to my earier e-mail Epson have responded outlining that the price per page is 10p and the upgrade to a different plan during the month is £5.50.

I so wish I had not taken put this extortionate subscription. 10p per page to pring on my own printer!!

Their advertisements clearly state that these are Ink-only subscription plans and yet the ink is not even considered in how much they charge you for the extra pages.

Yes. The moral of the story is to be absolutely sure the next printer you're getting does NOT have a subscription service at all. That's one of the MANY reasons I keep telling everyone to stock up on previous model printers. They were built better and do not have these extortion like services or booby-traps/sensors.

They actually responded to me outlining the exact charges but also offering me a £35 refund . Doesn't change the fact that their subscription is patently unfair and misleading and they are practicing what would seem to me to be false advertising.

They have a lawsuit going on in the UK about it. Printers in the UK don't have the greedy restrictions american printers do.
